Tough chick on the comeback

The tibia is one of the strongest bones in the body, second only to the femur. Yet Jess managed to cleave her tibia at its thickest part (the tibial plateau) while playing a pickup game of soccer! 6 screws, some rough carpentry and a kick ass scar later, Jess weilds a mean crutch on her way to reclaiming her spot as one of NorCal's toughest chicks.

Celiac in the news!

Ok...we've been harping on you all to curb your bread, rice, pasta to decrease inflammation, lean you out and increase insulin sensitivity, not to mention prevent gastrointestinal issues. Here's a great piece on Celiac from CNN.

FYI, Robb feels the numbers that they report for frequency in the population are far from accurate, and more likely around 10-15%. They make the point in the news piece that Celiac can and does affect every system in the body, and is likely a contributor in depression, infertility, cancer and other bad stuff. Time to get with the program!!!!

Eva T gave us this lovely horse trough for post workout cold dips. Little did we know the late November temperatures would leave a 1/2 inch sheet of ice covering the trough. Now why would anyone want to subject themselves to this? Enhanced insulin sensitivity, decreased inflammation, improved post workout recovery, extreme shrinkage!
